This Week’s Masonic Visit to St Cecilia Lodge
This week I visited St Cecilia Lodge and had a truly superb musical masonic evening. One aspect of St Cecilia Lodge’s raison d’etre is to help young musicians to develop their skills and on this occasion they had invited a young lady called Ellie Dawson who was to perform for the lodge. Ellie has received a bursary from St Cecilia lodge to pay towards singing lessons so that she can develop her singing skills. She is 13 years old, has a wonderful singing voice and has needed the help of a professional singing coach to lay down some good foundations for the future. Of course a condition of her bursary was that she came along and performed for the lodge, this she did superbly to loud applause from all the lodge members and their guests.
The concert was followed by a splendid meal and great company – yet another magnificent masonic evening.
Next week is a visit to Marquis of Granby Lodge – the oldest lodge in the Durham Mason Hall. I anticipate another great masonic evening as it will be a short meeting followed by a barbecue in the Masonic Hall Gardens.
